South Texas Mountain Lions – 1920-50

People often envision the Big Bend region when talking about mountain lions in Texas, but the big cats have historically lived all over the state. This selection of images focuses on South Texas cats, and highlights the number of animals killed by State Predator Control trappers. From the number of cats killed in these images, I can only imagine that the mountain lion population was historically much higher.
